Leggings are tough. They’re in, they’re comfortable, they’re versatile; but they’re incredibly hard to style (unless you’re going to the gym). It can be hard to feel totally covered in leggings even though you’re not showing any more skin than you are in jeans! Here are some styling ideas to help you rock this trend.
The Do’s and Don’ts of Leggings
DO…
- Cover your rear.
- Wear your size! Too small looks just as bad as too big.
- Watch panty lines.
DON’T…
- Wear thin, shiny leggings. They’re almost never flattering!
- Sit on rough surfaces.
- Tuck your shirt in.
How To Wear Leggings
In the sample looks above, we followed all the rules! On the left, we chose black leggings with faux pockets (always a good choice), knee-high boots, a Tory Burch tunic, and cute House of Harlow 1960 studs to complete the look. Leggings are great to pair with a tunic because they slim down the look and keep it from being bulky.
On the right, we paired gray leggings–again with faux pockets–with a high-low tshirt. This is a good way to make leggings a little less revealing without going for the tunic! Then we added ankle boots, a House of Harlow 1960 pendant, and a scarf for some interest. Voila!
