What steps can you take to set yourself up for a great day?
Do you want to have an amazing day? Here are a few tips:
- Wake up early so you can have a head start and enjoy some “me” time. Waking up early also gives you more time to do what you need to do during the day. If you want to dive into this subject on a deeper level I suggest picking up “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod. This book provides step-by-step things you can do to feel better in the A.M. that set yourself up for success the rest of the day.
- Exercise in the morning to energize yourself. It could be a brisk walk, a run around the park, or an hour in the gym.
- Eat a healthy breakfast for the energy you need to tackle the day. Some people are just lacking the nutrition they need to stay productive during the day. I know I get cranky if I wait too long before eating lunch.
- Schedule for the day. Prioritize your tasks and make sure to include breaks. This doesn’t need to be complicated. Just write down a few specific things you want to get done tomorrow. Then look at the list in the morning and begin making progress.
- Start the day with a positive mindset. This helps you sustain a positive outlook the entire day. I find that thinking positive thoughts before I go to sleep helps with this.
- Don’t be tempted to check your phone or computer for the first 30 minutes after you wake up or right before you go to sleep. Begin the day on your own terms rather than reacting to outside demands in your chat, email, or social media account.
Finally, be grateful. It helps put things in perspective and start the day with a positive mindset. Before I go to sleep I often think about the things I’m thankful for, including living in a safe place, have a wife and family, my parents still being alive, and that I’m able to work from home and am healthy. Think about all the little things you have to be thankful about and tell me you don’t feel at least a little better after.
